Francisco J. Aparicio

Francisco J. Aparicio represents investors and owners in connection with the acquisition and disposition of various types of real property, including office buildings, shopping centers, apartment complexes and industrial facilities, and represents institutional lenders and owners in financing transactions, including those involving office buildings, shopping centers and residential developments. He also represents clients in the leasing of commercial property, including office and retail space, representing landlords and tenants. Mr. Aparicio assists clients in structuring transactions and conducting due diligence (including environmental, title and survey matters), and in drafting and negotiating the applicable agreements, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, license agreements, easement agreements and management contracts. Mr. Aparicio is also familiar with site selection issues.

Mr. Aparicio served as a Commissioner with the California Fair Political Practices Commission from 1989-1992. As a Commissioner, he participated in various matters in connection with California's campaign laws relating to lobbying, campaign finance, conflicts of interest, ethics, and disclosure laws. Such matters included the adoption of rules and regulations, issuance of opinions and participation in enforcement matters. In private practice, he practiced in the political and election law area advising corporations and candidates on matters relating to the regulation of political activity, including campaign law compliance, gift rules, lobby registration laws and matters related to compliance with governmental ethics laws, as well as matters related to internal ethics guidelines. He has worked on federal, state and local matters. He was a Member of the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Election Law from 1990-1995, and has published articles on matters relating to election laws.

Mr. Aparicio started his career with O'Melveny & Myers as a member of the Real Estate Department. He was later associated with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where he practiced Political and Election Law, and Kelley, Drye & Warren as a member of the Project Finance Department.

Mr. Aparicio graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California in 1983 with an A.B. in Economics, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received the Award for Outstanding Scholarship from the Department of Economics in 1983. He received his J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1987 and was the recipient of a University Fellowship from the School of Law in 1984. In 1986, he served as an Extern to the Honorable David V. Kenyon, U.S. District Court, Central District.
